"…he is Hong Kong's leading singer-songwriter, capable of conveying a wide range of feelings on relationships and life in a touching and entertaining manner."
- South China Morning Post
There are the delicate Canto and Mando-pop ballads oozing wistfulness, wanderlust and heartache. There are the upbeat ditties with sing-along choruses and restrained beats. And there are the English folk-pop tunes with subtly funky bass riffs and slim echoes of 60s folk-rock.
Yet through the mix of styles in Chet Lam’s repertoire runs a common thread – his songs are unbelievably easy on the ears. Delivered in his mellow voice and with sparkling guitar and occasional accompaniment on the flute, bass, drums and ukelele, they set listeners gently afloat in a realm of dreamy, hazy summer days and quiet reverie.
Hear the bestselling Hong Kong indie singer-songwriter perform songs from his albums in a long-awaited acoustic concert featuring just his songs, his voice and his guitar.
Chet Lam has released 10 independent solo albums in Cantonese, English and Mandarin, written hits for other artists including Sammi Cheng, Eason Chan, Elva Hsiao and Stephanie Sun, acted in two indie films, opened for k.d. lang, collaborated with French Bohemian group Moriarty and Venezuelen a cappella group Vocal Sampling, and won numerous awards (including the 2003 Golden Horse Awards’ “Best Song Written for a Movie”, Global Chinese Music Awards 2004’s “Song of the Year”, 2004 and 2005’s Chinese Music Media Awards’ “Best Folk Artist”).
