Accompanied by recitation of Chinese classical poems, the Forbidden City Chamber Orchestra will enthrall you with its unique combination of Chinese poetic flavour and musical elegance. Established only in 2008, the 10-member orchestra has delighted audiences with its exquisite chamber music performances that showcase the vitality and finesse of traditional Chinese music.

This performance includes solos and small ensemble performances where individual musicians will showcase their virtuosity. Works include a melodious guzheng piece High Mountain and Flowing Waters, a delicate pipa solo piece A Moonlit Night on the Spring River, an erhu solo piece on the sorrow of parting Three Variations on the Yangguan Pass, Faint Fragrance, a piece that reminisces on the past performed by a plucked string quintet, and Autumn Yearning by the Dresser, a melancholic dialogue between the xiao and guzheng.
